UMW Softball Drops C2C Twinbill at Salisbury

The University of Mary Washington softball team dropped a pair of Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference games at #2 ranked Salisbury University, 1-0 and 6-0, on Saturday afternoon in Salisbury. The Eagles slip to 18-19 on the season.

In the opener, Salisbury scored one run in the second inning on a wild pitch for the only tally of the game. Emma Schieda had two of the Eagles' four hits in the contest, with Morgan Gilbert and Gracy Drury adding singles.

Caitlyn Burch took the loss, allowing one run on four hits in six innings, with one walk and three strikeouts.

In the second game, the Sea Gulls scored one in the first and another in the second, and two in the fourth and sixth. Schieda and Caroline Bird each had hits for UMW.

Freshman Taylor Hudson took the loss, allowing six runs on eight hits in six innings, with three walks and six strikeouts.

The Eagles will return to action next Saturday when they host #1 Christopher Newport University for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
