UMW's Burch, Schieda, and Porchie Named to 2021 All-C2C Softball Teams

Salisbury University collected four of the five major awards as the 2021 Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) Softball All-Conference honors were unveiled. The Sea Gulls earned six first team selections and seven overall. Christopher Newport led all teams with ten honorees, including five on first team. 

Player of the Year: Abby Mace - Salisbury
Abby Mace has been the spark at the top of the lineup for the Sea Gulls all season. She leads the C2C in batting average, slugging percentage, home runs and stolen bases. Mace tallied 11 home runs with 30 runs scored, 25 RBIs, 19 stolen bases and nine doubles. Mace slashed .424/.523/.918 in 28 games in 2021.

Pltcher of the Year: Lindsey Windsor - Salisbury
Lindsey Windsor notched nine wins with a 1.71 earned run average in 14 starts in 2021. In four C2C appearances, Windsor registered three complete-game victories with two shutouts and a save. At the plate, Windsor hit .421 with a home run, 12 RBIs, 16 hits, 13 runs scored and five doubles.

Rookie of the Year: Sam Allen - Mount Mary
Sam Allen led the Blue Angels in most offensive categories. Among all C2C batters, Allen's .379 batting average ranked fifth-best, while her .600 slugging percentage ranked fourth. Her 25 RBI is second-best in the league, 16 runs scored rank seventh, and her 36 total hits and three triples are both tops among C2C offensive players. In her inaugural season, she tallied at least one hit in 22 games, recorded 10 multi-hit games, and went 4-for-4 twice this season. She also added a 13-game hit streak—second-longest in school history.

Scholar-Athlete of the Year: Madeira Alexander - Salisbury
Madeira Alexander holds a 3.73 grade-point average as a marketing and management double major with a minor in psychology in the Clarke Honors College at Salisbury. On the field, Alexander totaled 93 hits, 73 runs scored, 72 RBIs, 19 doubles, 14 home runs and four triples in her four-year career. Off the field, Alexander Is the President of Salisbury's SAAC, Co-President of C2C SAAC, a member of the Division III National SAAC and a voting member of the Division III Management Council.

Coaching Staff of the Year: Salisbury - Lacey Lord, Head Coach
In her first season at the helm of the Salisbury softball team, Lacey Lord led the Sea Gulls to a 21-win season and a perfect 6-0 record in conference games. Salisbury won four games against ranked opponents during the 2021 season.
