UMW Softball Falls to Salisbury, Frostburg in CAC Tournament

The University of Mary Washington softball team fell to Salisbury, 3-0, and to Frostburg State University, 2-1, on Saturday in the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament, eliminating the Eagles from the event and dropping their season record to 24-18 overall.

In the loss to Salisbury, the Eagles allowed single runs in the first, second, and third. UMW tallied three hits, with Amanda Adams leading the way with a single and a walk. Morgan Lamon and Michelle Durnavich each singled as well. Hannah Otterman took the loss, allowing three earned runs on five hits in six innings. She walked five and struck out one.

In the 2-1 loss to Frostburg, UMW scored first, as Brandee Adams singled and scored on an Amanda Adams hit. The Eagles allowed two runs in the sixth inning, with two errors spelling doom for the UMW cause. Adams and Adams each had two hits for UMW. Junior Annie Blaine took the loss for UMW, allowing just two hits and no earned runs in five-plus innings.

The Eagles will close the season on Wednesday when they visit Catholic University at 3:00 p.m.
