UMW Softball Drops Doubleheader to Randolph-Macon

The University of Mary Washington softball team saw its six-game win streak snapped with a pair of losses to Randolph-Macon College on Thursday night at Riverbend High School. The Eagles fall to 17-13 on the season.

In the opener, the Yellow Jackets rapped out 11 hits and the Eagles committed four errors that led to an 11-4 loss. Freshman Hannah Williams led the Eagles at the plate, going 2-3 with a single, double, and two RBI. Freshman Hannah Otterman took the loss, allowing five earned runs in 5.2 innings with four walks and five strikeouts.

In game two, the Eagles fell, 5-3. Senior Morgan Lamon went 2-3 with two doubles and two RBI to lead the Eagles at the plate. Sophomore Julianne Sweat took the loss allowing one earned run on four hits in 3.2 innings, with no walks and no strikeouts.

The Eagles will host Salisbury University on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. in a battle of Capital Athletic Conference unbeatens.
