The University of Mary Washington men's tennis team competed at the St. Joseph's Invitational this weekend in Philadelphia, against strong, mostly Division I competition.
In flight one singles, Moses Hutchison fell to Luis Molina of Delaware, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5), and Robinson of Villanova, 8-3. In flight two, Andrew Watson fell to Guilherme Valdoleiros of Delaware, 6-2, 6-2, and Paul of Villanova, 8-4.
In flight three, Peter Leese fell to Eshan Kanetkar of St. Joe's, 6-2, 6-7, 10-7, and to Sanchez of Drexel, 8-4.
In flight four, Andrew Cooper defeated Jamil Racho of Jefferson, 7-5, 2-6, 10-0, then fell to Daniel Cheng of Villanova, 6-1, 6-3. Matthew Ray defeated Collin Klumb of Villanova, 6-3, 7-6 (4), before falling to Jeremy Learner of Lehigh, 6-4, 6-1. Cole Tecce defeated Adrian Tudor of NJIT, 7-5, 6-4, then fell to Alex Kim of Villanova, 7-6 (3), 7-5. Artis Hart defeated Matteo Navarro of Jefferson, 6-3, 6-3, then fell to Ryan Nguyen of Villanova, 6-2, 6-3. Ryan Meyer downed Martial Kawunde of Montclair State, 6-1, 6-0, then fell to Michael Bukhalo of Lehigh, 6-1, 6-4. Nick Spera defeated Ahmed Aboseada of Jefferson, 6-3, 6-1, before falling to Bukhalo, 6-2, 6-1.
In flight one doubles, Peter Leese and Nick Spera fell to Frisk and Sentay of St. Joe's, 6-4, and Perez Ramos/Smith of NJIT, 6-2. Hutchison and Watson fell to Hammit and Jagtiani of Drexel, 6-3, before topping Kim/Nguyen of Villanova, 6-3.
In flight two, Meyer and Tecce fell to Janackovic and Sanchez of Drexel, 6-2, and Prokurat/Suarez (VU), 7-5. Hart and Ray defeated Choi and Winton of Villanova, 6-2, before falling to Bukhalo and Paul, 7-5.
