The 13th ranked University of Mary Washington men's tennis team added a pair of wins on Saturday, topping Southern Virginia University, 6-3, and The College of New Jersey, 8-1, to improve to 10-3 on the season.
The Eagles started with a Capital Athletic Conference clash against Southern Virginia, and the Eagles gained doubles wins at two, with Patrick Hughes and Priyan Desilva winning, 8-6, and at three, with Joseph Brown and Colle Tecce winning, 8-3.
In singles, Ryland Byrd won at three, 6-3, 6-2, and Desilva won at four, 6-4, 6-2. Derek Hagino won at five, 6-0, 6-0, and Tecce won at six, 6-0, 6-1.
Against the Lions in the afternoon, the Eagles captured all three doubles points, as Moses Hutchison and Matt Miles won at one, 8-3, Byrd and Hagino won at two, 8-6, and Fleming and Hughes won at three, 8-2.
In singles play, Hughes won at one, 3-6, 6-4, 10-6, Hutchison won at two, 6-3, 6-2, and Brown won at three, 6-3, 6-1. Byrd won at four, 4-6, 6-4, 10-6, and Tecce won at six, 7-5, 6-3.
The Eagles will return to action on Sunday when they host Frostburg State University and Wisconsin-Whitewater.
