#12 UMW Men's Tennis Falls at #19 Swarthmore, 5-4, on Sunday

The twelfth-ranked University of Mary Washington men's tennis team was defeated at nineteenth-ranked Swarthmore College, 5-4, on Sunday afternoon in Swarthmore, PA. The Eagles slip to 18-4 overall.

In doubles action, Swarthmore took two out of the three matches to take an early lead. Matt Miles and Moses Hutchison were the lone winners at two doubles as they won 8-4. The Garnet took one doubles 8-3 and three doubles 8-5.

The two teams split, 3-3, in singles action. Miles won at one singles 7-5, 6-4; Joseph Brown won at three singles 2-6, 6-4, 6-4; and Cole Tecce won at six singles 6-4, 6-7 (9-7), 6-2. Swarthmore took two singles 6-4, 6-0; four singles 6-4, 6-4; and five singles 7-6 (7-5), 3-6, 6-4.

The Eagles will conclude their regular season on Sunday, April 29, as they host #23 Johns Hopkins at at 12 p.m.
