#29 UMW Men's Tennis Tops #26 Kalamazoo, 5-2, on Sunday in Ohio

The 29th ranked University of Mary Washington men's tennis team defeated 26th ranked Kalamazoo College, 5-2, on Sunday in Gambier, Ohio. The Eagles improve to 2-0 on the season.

In doubles, the Eagles picked up swift wins at two from Matt Miles and Michael Fleming, as well as Ryland Byrd and Joseph Brown, and then gained the sweep as Derek Hagino and Patrick Hughes fell behind, 7-2, before roaring back for the victory.

After Kalamazoo gained wins at one and two singles, the Eagles clinched the match with wins from Moses Hitchison at four singles, and Brown at three in three sets for the clinching point.

The Eagles move to 2-0 on the season, and will be back in action on Saturday, February 24, when they host Sewanee at 9 a.m. and Coe College at 3 p.m.
