UMW Men's Swimming Falls to Gettysburg, 126-136, on Saturday

The University of Mary Washington men's swimming team dropped a tough 126-136 decision against Gettysburg College on Saturday afternoon. 

The Eagles opened the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay from Paul DatovechAidan Deege, Lj Almariento, and Will Burkey at 1:36.65. Kyle Johnson took 2nd in the 1000 freestyle at 10:25.39, with Jakob Robinette, Boone Fleenor, and Conrad Tan taking 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in the 200 freestyle with times of 1:47.40, 1:49.36, and 1:49.38.

Aidan Deege took 1st in the 100 breaststroke at 59.23, while Johnathan Zimmer did the same in the 200 butterfly at 1:56.13. The 50 freestyle was fully taken by Eagles Will Burkey, Ellis Winfree, and Kai Green, placing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd with electric times of 21:66, 22.17, and 22.26. The 100 freestyle was another sweep of the top 3 spots from Will Burkey, Preston Trevey, and Jakob Robinette with times of 47.49, 49.40, and 49.61. Johnathan Zimmer and Lj Almariento took 2nd and 3rd in the 100 butterfly at 52.71 and 53.93, while Johnathan Zimmer finished his strong individual performance in 3rd with a sub-2-minute 200 IM at 1:58.85.

The Eagles' finished strong while their 200 freestyle relay teams took 1st, 3rd, and 5th with times of 1:27.13, 1:30.04, and 1:31.34.

The Eagles will be back in action on Friday at 3 p.m. when the Eagles host Southern Virginia University.
