Alex Anderson '15 Named Finalist for CSCAA's 100 Greatest Swimmers

Colorado Springs, CO -- The College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America's (CSCAA) announced the candidates for its centennial list of 100 Greatest Swimmers & Divers. Nine hundred and seventy-three (973) candidates, dating back more than 100 years were selected from 2,805 nominees. They will now go to a Blue Ribbon Panel of voters who will be charged with narrowing the selections to one hundred men and one hundred women. In total, 221 schools had at least one athlete named a finalist.

Representing the University of Mary Washington is four-time national champion Alex Anderson '15. Undoubtedly the most decorated athlete in Mary Washington athletics history, Anderson capped his brilliant swimming career with four individual national championships spanning 2013-15. Even more impressive, Anderson set new NCAA Division III records with his winning times in three of his four championships. In 2015, Anderson swam in three events at the NCAA Championships, breaking the existing NCAA Division III record in every event. The 2015 CAC Swimmer of the Year and UMW Male Athlete of the Year, Anderson finished his brilliant career with four national championships, and never finished worse than second in nine NCAA Championship finals.
