BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Lynchburg took two of three major awards in the Hornets' inaugural varsity season, as the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) announced the first-ever College Division Men's Swimming All-State Team.

The Hornets' Parker Hayungs (State Rookie of the Year) and Brad Dunn (State Coach of the Year) were both honored, while State Swimmer of the Year laurels went to Washington & Lee's Patrick Sullivan.

Sullivan qualified for NCAAs in three events and was a CSCAA All-American in the 100 free and 200 free. The Old Dominion Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Year won three individual events (50 free, 100 free, 200 free) and three relays at the conference championship meet.

Hayungs was the ODAC Rookie of the Year and a first team All-Conference selection in the 500 free. He placed in the top-five at ODACs in all seven of his events.

Dunn led his first-year program to a fourth-place finish at the ODAC championship meet, equaling the best conference finish ever for a debut campaign. His team had a 9-2 dual meet record and featured five All-ODAC swimmers.

First team All-State freestylers were Sullivan, Washington and Lee's Conner Van Vooren, Mary Washington's Noah Carpenter and Brian Harnish, and Roanoke's Josh Rauch.

First team backstroke selections included Danny Lynch (W&L) and Joe Stephens (Randolph-Macon). Top breaststroke choices were Mary Washington's Mark Dye and Roanoke's Connor Kinkema. First team butterfly selections were Victor Kontopanos (RMC) and Jared Nickodem (W&L), and top IM honors went to Mary Washington duo Carpenter and Austin Farrar.

Washington & Lee had first team relay selections in the 200 medley, 400 medley and 400 free, and Mary Washington took home top honors in the 200 free and 800 free relays.

VaSID names 44 All-State teams in 23 sports each year, as well as an Academic All-State squad and an all-sports champion in both the University and College Divisions. Membership in VaSID is open to all media relations professionals working at a university or conference in the state of Virginia.
