UMW Men's Swimming Tops Salisbury, 184-78

The University of Mary Washington men's swim team started the 2019 portion of its schedule with a flourish, defeating Salisbury University, 184-78, on Saturday afternoon at Goolrick Natatorium.

The Eagle quartet of Matt Curran, Mark Dye, Joshua Duke, and Brian Harnisch finished first in the 400 yard medley relay with a time of 3:39.97. The Eagles finished 1-2-3 in the 1000 yard freestyle, with junior Austin Farrar taking first at 10:14.24, followed by Matthew Scott in second and Preston Everitt in third. Kolin Hoffman took first in the 200 freestyle at 1:48.11, and Curran took first in the 50 breaststroke at 25.31, followed by Gareth Mancini in second.

Dye finished first in the 50 breaststroke at 27.95, with Jonathan Brooks taking second, and Garrett Ross won the 50 freestyle at 21.93, as the Eagles finished 1-2-3. Harnish won the 100 freestyle at 48.01, Noah Carpenter won the 100 backstroke at 56.70, and Luke Bergstrom finished second.

Jeff Leckrone won the 100 breastsroke at 58.03, Farrar won the 500 free at 4:54.63, with Hoffman taking second. Thomas Leckrone won the 50 butterfly at 24.07 as UMW finished 1-2-3, and Jeff Leckrone won the 100 IM at 54.84.

The Eagles will be back in action next Saturday when they visit St. Mary's College at 1:00 p.m.
