Men's Soccer Falls, 2-1, to Dickinson

Fredericksburg, Va.-- The University of Mary Washington men's soccer team lost 2-1 on Wednesday afternoon. The Eagles outshot the Red Devils on the day, but fall to 6-3 overall on the season.

Senior Tanner Carlton (Warrenton, Va./Kettle Run) got the scoring started at the 34:43 mark of the game. Carlton collected the loose ball off a Carlos Vasquez (Herndon, Va./Herndon) cross. Carlton beat keeper Jacob Schreer on the left side.

In the second half, Dickinson struck back trying the game on a Derek Kachadurian goal 19 minutes into the half. Kachadurian scored off a pass from Javier Mena. When a foul was called just outside the box at the 75 minute mark, Jamie Martin took a free kick and placed it over Ian Waltz (Potomac Falls, Va./Potomac Falls) to give the Red Devils the lead for good.

Carlton and fellow senior Nick Shepherd (Palmyra, Va./Fluvanna County) led all players with four shots. Waltz made five saves in 90 minutes of work. "I thought the effort was there today. They are a great team," head coach Jason Kilby said following the 2-1 loss.

The Eagles open CAC play on Saturday, September 28. The Eagles travel to York (Pa.) to take on the Spartans starting at 2:00 p.m.
