Men's Soccer Falls to Catholic, 1-0, on Wednesday

Washington, D.C.-- The University of Mary Washington men's soccer fell to Catholic University 1-0 on Wednesday afternoon. The Eagle got outshot 11-5, not putting a shot on goal in the loss from the nation's capital.

The lone goal of the game came off the foot of Cardinal midfielder Nico Bartolomeo in the 66th minute. Bartolomeo took a Catholic free kick from 35 yards out on the left side, beating junior Tyler Back (Falls Church, Va./George Mason). 

The Eagles had four corner kicks in the game, but did not produce any shots on goal from them. Back made six saves on the day. Freshman Carlos Mendoza (Herndon, Va./Herndon) led UMW in shots with two.

The Mary Washington men's soccer team returns to action this Saturday, September 14th on Eagle Nation Day. The Eagles take on the Kean University Cougars at the Battleground. The match with Kean begins at 1:00 p.m.
