UMW Men's Soccer Tops Wesley, 2-0, in CAC Action

Seniors Matt Poole and Matt Alter scored second half goals to propel the University of Mary Washington men's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Wesley College in Capital Athletic Conference action on Saturday at the Battleground. The Eagles improve to 7-5 overall and 1-2 in CAC play.

After a scoreless first half, Poole put the Eagles ahead at 60:37 on a breakaway, and Alter capped the scoring at 77:31 on a pass from Josh Campbell on a nice one-touch out of midair on a cross.

The Eagles led in shots, 15-3, and in corner kicks, 7-1. Sophomore goalie Tyler Back had one save for UMW, while Brian Zuber had two saves for Wesley.

Mary Washington will be back in action on Sunday when they host Kean University at 1:00 p.m.
