UMW Men's Lacrosse Falls at #4 Salisbury in C2C Opener on Tuesday Afternoon

The University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse team dropped a 24-7 decision at fourth-ranked Salisbury University on Tuesday afternoon in both teams' Coast 2 Coast Conference opener. The Eagles slip to 1-2 on the season.

The Sea Gulls took command early, scoring their first goal 1:00 in, and netting the game's first 10 goals. The Eagles scored with 10:37 remaining in the second, as junior J.D. Nozemack scored unassisted. The Sea Gulls held a 12-1 at halftime.

The hosts netted the first two goals of the third quarter, before Nozemack scored his second of the day with 12:06 left in the quarter. The Eagles scored again with 4:07 remaining, as Cameron Walker scored on a Kristophe Newman assist.

The Eagles scored four straight in the fourth quarter. Newman scored unassisted with 8:42 left, and Walker followed 20 seconds later on a Nozemack assist. Nozemack tallied his third of the day with 6:05 remaining, and Walker scored on a Logan Green assist with 4:36 to play.

Nozemack led the offense with three goals and an assist, while Walker posted three goals. 

The Sea Gulls led in shots, 57-23, as well as ground balls, 49-28. Riley Green made 15 saves in goal for the Eagles in 54:19 of action, while Bode Weber added two in 5:41. Five players had three ground balls for the Eagles.

Mary Washington will return to action on March 23 when they visit Hampden-Sydney College at 7:00 p.m.
