Mary Washington head coach Drew Delaney announced three team captains for the 2021 men's lacrosse season on Monday. Juniors Sam Allen, Logan Green, and Sam Pugliese will all serve as team captains for the Eagles for the first time in their collegiate careers.

"Our staff is excited to announce the 2021 Mary Washington captains," Delaney said. "In such an uncertain time, it is important for our program to remain focused on building a great culture. Each of these student-athletes were selected to guide our team through this moment.  The responsibility of the leadership positions they have earned are demanding and the magnitude of their task is not lost on any of them. However, their commitment to our program has been unwavering and each captain has the backing and support of their teammates, above all, to help lead this team to heightened academic and athletic success."

Allen, a Purcellville, Va. Native, is a midfielder and geography major with a concentration in geographic information science and has played in 19 games in two seasons. In the abbreviated 2020 season, he recorded 4 groundballs and a caused turnover 7games, serving as a defensive specialist, taking wings on face-offs, and playing man-down.

Green, a midfielder and business administration major has appeared in every game since arriving to Fredericksburg from Purcellville, Va. Over 25 games, he has recorded 31 career points and is the third highest returning point scorer from a 2020 squad that averaged nearly 20 points per game.

Pugliese, a business administration major from Westfield, N.J., has been a stalwart defenseman since arriving as a freshman. He has started in 23 of the 25 games he appeared in, picking up 50 GBs and causing 19 turnovers. In the abbreviated 2020 season, Pugliese was third on the team in groundballs and caused turnovers.
