UMW Men’s Lacrosse Falls at Marymount, 15-7, on Saturday

The University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse team fell to Marymount University, 15-7,  on Saturday afternoon in Arlington, Va. The Eagles slip to 7-8 overall, and 3-4 in the CAC.

In the first quarter, Marymount jumped out to a 4-0 lead with 6:12 left. Cole Hogan got UMW on the board on a man-up opportunity with 1:58 to play. The Saints added a fifth goal with 1:16 to play and they took a 5-1 lead into the second quarter. 

In the second quarter, the Saints added another goal to increase their lead to 6-1. Owen Dingman scored his 24th goal of the year with 7:17 to play. Marymount closed out the quarter with two more goals and they led 8-2 at halftime.

The Eagles were shutout in the third quarter and Marymount scored four goals to take a 12-2 lead into the fourth quarter.

Chris White scored his lone goal of the day on an assist from Shane McKenzie on a man-up opportunity with 10:04 left. Ben Byrne tallied a goal with 9:23 to play that brought UMW within eight, 12-4. Dingman then scored his second goal of the day on a man-up opportunity with 7:05 remaining. Chase Kapuscienski added a goal on an assist from McKenzie with 6:24 to put the score at 13-6. Marymount scored two goals, before Will Mortimer scored with four seconds remaining.

Quintin Ricci led the Eagles with seven ground balls on the day. Kaleb Hunter picked up thee ground balls and caused one turnover. Billy Senicola made 10 saves for UMW.

The Eagles will be back in action on Tuesday as they will host Southern Virginia at 4 p.m. in their last regular season home game.
