Senior Owen Dingman recorded his second game-winner of the season in overtime to help the University of Mary Washington defeat Frostburg State University, 8-7, of Thursday afternoon in Fredericksburg, Va. UMW improves to 6-4 overall, and 2-0 in the CAC.

A back-and-forth first quarter saw the Bobcats strike first just 14:21 into the game. Dingman scored his first goal of the game on an assist from Chase Kapuscienski only two minutes later to even the score a one a piece. Frostburg St. regained the lead with 6:04 to play in the first quarter. From there, Conor Healy scored on an assist from Shane Mckenzie to knot the game up at two with 1:34 remaining in the quarter. 

The Bobcats scored the first three goals of the second quarter to take the lead 5-2 with 1:11 remaining. UMW was held scoreless until the last 22 seconds of the quarter as Will Mortimer scored on an assist from Cole Hogan, and the Eagles were down 5-3 going into half.

Out of halftime, Frostburg St. scored first with 9:43 left to push their lead to three, 6-3. McKenzie then scored on an assist from Dingman to bring them within two. Kapuscienski added his lone goal of the game with 1:05 to play in the third quarter on an assist from McKenzie.

In the fourth quarter, the Eagles tied it up at 6-6 as Hogan scored on a helper from Ben Byrne with 11:38 left in the game. The Bobcats took the lead, 7-6, with 10:17 remaining. UMW tied the game up at seven a piece as Hogan scored on an assist from Dingman with just 5:48 to play. That score would stand until overtime.

In overtime Eli Ayer came up with a huge face-off win, his 12th of the day, and from there Dingman scored the game-winner on an assist from Conor Healy.

Ayer came up with six ground balls, while Kaleb Hunter caused three turnovers. Billy Senicola made 10 saves on the day and recorded four ground balls.

UMW won the ground ball battle 27-16, and converted 19-20 clears. 

The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday as they will host Wesley in a CAC matchup at 1 p.m.
