#15 Eagles Fight Back; Fall to #2 Salisbury, 10-7, on Saturday

Fredericksburg, Va.-- The #15 University of Mary Washington Eagles fell in a hard fought 10-7 matchup with #2 Salisbury. The Eagles got the deficit down to just one late, but Salisbury pulled ahead for the win. UMW is now 7-2, 0-2 CAC on the year.

Salisbury jumped ahead early, scoring the first two goals of the game five minutes in. UMW answered with a Luke Dick goal with 6:07 remianing. However, the Sea Gulls would score twice more to take a 4-1 lead into the second.

Donovan Lange scored on the man up opportunity four minutes into the quarter to pull ahead 5-1. Mary Washington then rattled off three unanswered goals to pull within one at 5-4. Chris Garcia and Chip Pittard each scored off John Bohlinger assists, with Jared Krikorian scoring the third from a Joey Marson assist. Salisbury would get another goal late in the quarter to lead 6-4 at the half.

The Sea Gulls came out and domintated play early in the third, scoring twice midway through the quarter. Luke Dick answered with his second and third goals of the game in the final minutes of the third. 

The final stanza saw Greg Smith score on the man up to cut the Salisbury lead to just one at 8-7. Salisbury would get two goals to pull away late, and win 10-7.

Dick led the Eagles with three goals, while Pittard, Smith, Krikorian and Garcia each added one. Zack DelGrosso made ten saves for the Eagles in the loss.

UMW returns to action on Wednesday, April 2nd. The #15 Eagles travel to St. Mary's to take on the Seahawks in a CAC clash at 4:00 p.m.
