UMW Men's Golf Finishes Second at Callaway Gardens Collegiate Invite; Three Named to All-Tournament Team

The University of Mary Washington men's golf team started the spring 2020 season in strong fashion on Monday, finishing a 36-hole day at the Callaway Gardens Collegiate Invitational in Pine Mountain, Ga., with a second place team finish. The event was shortened to one day and 36 holes due to the weather forecast for Tuesday. The Eagles saw junior Sebastien Bonte finish in second place at +3, and seniors Phillip Manceri and Jason Guintu tie for fourth at +5 to all gain all-tournament honors.

The Eagles shot an opening round 305, and bounced back in the afternoon for a round of 299 - the best in the field. Overall, UMW finished at 604, or +28 -  seven shots behind first place LaGrange College. Individually, Bonte shot a +3 through 36 holes, with a +1 in the morning round and a +2 in the afternoon round. Manceri shot a +3 in the morning and a +2 in the afternoon, and Guintu shot a +5 in the morning and shot even par in the afternoon. 

Senior Andrew Halmrast finished in 26th place at +18, sophomore Robin Yu tied for 34th at +21, junior Marshall Wood finished 36th at +22, senior Austin Matz was 43rd at +31, and freshman Luis Gavignano was 44th at +39.
