UMW Men's Basketball Falls to Bridgewater St., 70-60, in Championship of Team Hill Holiday Tournament

The University of Mary Washington men's basketball team dropped a 70-60 decision to Bridgewater State College in the championship of the Team Hill Holiday Tournament at Montclair, N.J. on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles fall to 4-6 on the season.

UMW trailed, 26-24, at halftime, but were outscored by eight in the second half. Sophomore Sean Armstrong gained all-tournament honors by leading the Eagles with 13 points and seven rebounds, while junior guard Dylan Farinet added nine points. Lamonte Fields had seven points and six rebounds for UMW.

After trailing by just two at halftime, Bridgewater opened the second half on a 6-2 run, and never looked back, leading by as many as 16 before UMW worked the deficit back to seven late. But the Eagles, victims of 43% shooting and 24 turnovers, could pull no closer.

Mary Washington will return to action on January 2 against Emory & Henry College in Lexington, Va., as part of the Washingotn & Lee Holiday Classic.
