UMW Field Hockey Falls at #19 CNU, 3-0, on Saturday

The University of Mary Washington field hockey team dropped a 3-0 decision at 19th ranked Christopher Newport University in the regular season finale on Saturday in Newport News, Va. The Eagles slip to 5-12 on the season.

After a scoreless first quarter, the host Captains went ahead with a score midway through the second quarter, and the hosts led, 1-0, at halftime.

CNU added another score in the third quarter with five minutes remaining, and added another in the fourth for the 3-0 margin.

Christopher Newport led in shots, 30-12, as well as penalty corners, 15-5. UMW junior goalkeeper Bailey McNabb made 10 saves in the contest, while freshman Caroline Porter added a defensive save.

The Eagles will return to action on Wednesday in the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference semifinal, returning to face CNU at 5:00 p.m.
