The University of Mary Washington field hockey team dropped a 1-0 decision at fifth-ranked Christopher Newport University on Wednesday night in the semifinals of the Capital Athletic Conference tournament. The Eagles close with a record of 11-8 on the season.

The defenses proved strong in the first half, as the two teams combined to put just three shots on goal, as the bulk of play took place in the middle of the field. After neither team could find the cage in the first half, Christopher Newport gained a penalty corner with just under 12 minutes remaining. in regulation.
