Christenbury Named Rookie of the Year, Seven Chosen for All-C2C Baseball Team

Freshman Jacob Christenbury was selected as the Rookie of the Year, and seven Eagles were named to the 2022 Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference All-Conference Bseball Team, announced on Thursday. Sophomore pitcher Alex Kobersteen, sophomore catcher Owen Reilly, sophomore outfielder Bobby Ayscue, and sophomore DH Ty Lowe were named to the first team, while sophomore pitcher Brendan McComber, sophomore first baseman Noah Roots, and junior second baseman Jonathan Sedmak were named honorable mention. 

Christenbury gains C2C Rookie of the Year after starting 37 games at shortstop for the Eagles this season, batting .277 with six doubles and two triples. The freshman has scored 22 runs and driven in 16, while stealing nine bases.

Kobersteen has appeared in nine games, winning three with 46 strikeouts in 54.0 innings pitched, with a 4.83 ERA. Reilly has played in 36 games, batting .279 with three home runs and 11 RBI, with 24 runs scored. Ayscue is batting .306 with two home runs and 23 RBI, with 35 runs scored and nine stolen bases. Lowe, a repeat selection this year, is batting .343 with two home runs and 38 RBI, with 25 runs scored.

McComber is a repeat selection, and has three wins in 12 appearances, with 45 strikeouts in 58.1 innings pitched, with a 5.55 ERA. Roots is batting .276 with three home runs and 21 RBI, with 26 runs scored. Sedmak is batting .308 with one home run and 15 RBI, with 18 runs scored.
