Senior outfielder David Lambertson and freshmen Ty Lowe and Brendan McComber were selected to the first team and senior shortstop/outfielder Garrett Lyons gained second team honors as the Coast 2 Coast Athletic Conference released its all-conference teams on Wednesday.

Salisbury University collected three of the five major awards as the 2021 Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) Baseball All-Conference honors were announced. The Sea Gulls earned 11 all-conference selections, including five first team honorees. Christopher Newport collected seven All-C2C designees, while Mary Washington and St. Mary's added four each.  

Player of the Year: Justin Meekins - Salisbury
Justin Meekins wraps up a stellar career at Salisbury with his first Player of the Year award and fourth straight all-conference outfield selection. Through 25 games, including last weekend's C2C semifinal series, the Berlin, Md., native is slashing .359/.488/.576 with 31 runs scored, five doubles, five home runs, 28 RBIs and 10 stolen bases. Meekins leads the C2C in home runs and ranks second in RBIs, sixth in batting average and sixth in stolen bases. He becomes the eighth Conference Player of the Year in SU history and the first since Pete Grasso in 2017.

Pitcher of the Year: Clayton Dwyer - Salisbury
Clayton Dwyer steamrolled the competition all season long and is in line to win the C2C Pitching Triple Crown, currently leading the league in wins, ERA and strikeouts. Through 15 appearances (five starts), the Laurel, Md., native boasts a 9-0 record with a 1.29 ERA, one save, 83 strikeouts (13.34 K/9) and just five walks over 56 innings. Dwyer, a three-time C2C Pitcher of the Week this season, took a perfect game bid into the seventh inning on May 6 against St. Mary's (Md.) and enters the C2C Championship Series with a 15.1-inning scoreless streak dating back to May 1. 

Rookie of the Year: Jay Cassady - Christopher Newport
In his first year with the Captains, Cassady played both ways as a starting first baseman and pitcher. He tied the program record for freshmen with a 14-game hitting streak and leads the team with a .367 average this season. He also ranks second in RBI with 27 while leading the squad in extra-base hits (17). In conference games, Cassady hit .440 with 19 RBI, 12 runs scored and 12 extra-base hits. On the mound, the rookie left-hander won a pair of games in 10 appearances with one save. He added 50 strikeouts in 44.2 innings pitched. 

Scholar-Athlete of the Year: Conner Clark - Christopher Newport
The starting center fielder and lead-off man for the Captains has enjoyed a record-breaking season in his third full year. He is hitting .323 with 34 runs scored and 17 stolen bases and during the conference tournament he set the program mark for career stolen bases with his 91st. He is the active leader in Division III with 92 career thefts and sixth among players at all NCAA levels. The three-time Conference All-Academic Team selection is majoring in Accounting. 

Coaching Staff of the Year: Salisbury - Troy Brohawn, Head Coach
Brohawn adds to his 2017 conference coach of the year award after providing a steady hand through a season of unique challenges. The Sea Gulls won 11 of their first 12 games and finished the season at 21-4, running away with the C2C regular season title with a conference record of 14-2. Salisbury has been ranked in the D3Baseball.com/NCBWA Top 10 for all 13 weeks of the regular season, peaking at No. 3 for five weeks. His team boasts national rankings in several statistical categories, including fielding percentage (.978, fourth), runs per game (10.0, 10th) and ERA (2.70, 11th).
