UMW Baseball Drops Thursday Tilt at Randolph-Macon

The University of Mary Washington baseball team dropped an 11-3 decision at Randolph-Macon College on Thursday afternoon in Ashland, Va. The Eagles fall to 11-8 on the season.

The Yellow Jackets stormed ahead early, scoring three runs in the first, six in the second, and three in the third. UMW then scored single runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth to narrow the final to 11-3, as neither team managed a run in the final 2.5 innings.

Sophomore right fielder James Sink led the Eagles offensively, with a single, double and run driven in. Junior Jono Haught doubled and scored two runs, and freshman Thomas Weaver doubled for the Eagles, who collected nine hits on the day.

Freshman Cole Jarvis took the loss for UMW, allowing three runs on three hits in one inning. Andrew Slupek, Nick McIntyre, and Ben Sisk combined to allow five hits in four innings of relief without a run allowed.

The Eagles will return to action on Saturday when they visit Wesley College for a Capital Athletic Conference doubleheader in Dover, Del.
