Erin Andrewlevich, Hanna Ashby Named UMW Female Athletes of the Year

University of Mary Washington track & field All-American Erin Andrewlevich and senior All-America women's lacrosse goalie Hanna Ashby have been named as the 2018-19 University of Mary Washington Female Athletes of the Year, as announced on Monday.

Andrewlevich gained the 2019 Capital Athletic Conference Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year after breaking school marks in the 100, 200, and 400 meters at the conference championships. She went on to gain first team All-America honors in both the 200 and 400 meters at the NCAA Championships, finishing sixth in the 400 meters at 56.47, and then took fourth in the 200 meters with a lifetime best time of 24.51.

Ashby became the first goalie in Mary Washington lacrosse history to gain first team All-America honors after ranking among the tops in the nation in save percentage (53.7%) and goals-against average (7.60 GAA), while leading the Eagles to the NCAA Championship and a national ranking of as high as second in the nation, its highest ever.

Coach Kunle Lawson on Erin Andrewlevich: "Erin is a very humble student-athlete. She is very down to earth and you wouldn't know that she was as good as she is unless you see her race. She is involved with the Performing Arts Center and performs with them multiple times per year while maintaining a good GPA and being a leader on our team."

Coach Caitlin Moore on Hanna Ashby: " Hanna is a model student-athlete; she became a member of our program as a first year in the fall of 2015 and has been one of the most consistent, focused and intense players I have ever had the pleasure to coach. She earned a starting role a few games into her first year and never looked back. During her time here, she has enjoyed a tremendous amount of on-field success, helping to re-write the UMW record books."
