University of Mary Washington Weight Room Policies

 

1)      Only intercollegiate athletes with eligibility during academic year are permitted to use the varsity weight room

2)      All athletes must have a workout program designed by the strength and conditioning staff

3)      No student athletes are permitted in the weight room without a member of the strength and conditioning staff present

4)      If an athlete is injured in any way that will inhibit either a portion of, or the entire workout, he or she must see a trainer prior to participating in the workout

5)      Respect yourself, your teammates, and the strength and conditioning staff at all times; Foul language and horseplay will not be tolerated

6)      Lifters are required to use spotters and collars are to be on the bars at all times

7)      Weights should never be leaned against equipment or placed on the ground and all equipment is to be put back in its proper place after use

8)      No food or drinks permitted out on weight room floor

9)      I-Pods, phones, and other electronic devices are not permitted

10)  Music will be controlled by strength and conditioning staff only

11)  No misusing equipment; i.e. dropping dumbbells

12)  Wipe down any and all equipment after use

13)  There will be NO unexcused make up lifts. Athletes need to give 24 hours notice to schedule a time with the strength and conditioning staff

*Any Violation of the above rules can and will result in disciplinary action

Workout Attire:  

Footwear: Athletic shoes must be worn at all times; boots, dress shoes, and flip flops are not permitted

Lower Body Wear: Athletes are required to wear athletic shorts, athletic pants, or sweats

Upper Body Wear: T-shirts, sweatshirts, and unaltered tank tops/cutoffs are permitted

*No hats permitted

*No other college athletic team gear permitted!
