UMW Men Finish 11th, Women 16th at NCAA Cross Country Regionals

The University of Mary Washington men's cross country team finoished in 11th place, and the women took 16th at the NCAA Division III South Regional Championships in Rome, Ga., on Saturday.

On the men's side, freshman Nicholas Smerlis led the way, finishing in 46th place at 26:27 on the 8K course. Junior Jacob Lohr finished in 51st place at 26:35, and sophomore Luke Blair took 67th place at 27:03. Sophomore Aidan Kimener finished in 95th place at 28:02, and freshman Ashton Shultz rounded out the top five in 99th place at 28:11.

For the women, senior Grace Pippin led the Eagles on the 6K course, finishing in 61st place at 24:36. Junior Jessica Oberlies finished in 97th place at 25:44, and junior Julia Snow took 105th at 26:11. Sophomore Enya Cea-Lavin finished in 121st place at 27:11, and freshman Eyaya Fletcher finished 127th at 27:39.
