UMW Cross Country Competes at Dickinson Pre-Nationals Meet

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Dickinson College Pre-Nationals Meet in Carlisle, Pa., on Saturday. The Eagle men finished 30th among 38 scoring schools, while the women finished 33rd among 39 schools.

Freshman Nicholas Smerlis led the Eagle men, finishing in 157th place with a time of 26:58 on the 8K course. Junior Jacob Lohr finished 165th at 27:01, and sophomore Luke Blair took 271st place at 28:31. Freshman Ashton Shultz was the Eagles' fourth finisher at 294th at 29:04, and soph Aidan Kimener rounded out the top five in 311th at 29:25.

On the women's side, senior Grace Pippin finished 233rd on the 6K course with a time of 25:35. Junior Jessica Oberlies finished in 235th place at 25:40, and junior Julia Snow took 261st at 25:59. Sophomore Katherine Armstrong finished in 315th place at 27:32, and freshman Eyaya Fletcher finished in 333rd place at 28:39.

Both teams will return to action in the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Championships in Santa Cruz, Cal. on October 28.
