UMW Men's XC Takes First in 6K at Shenandoah Hornet Harrier; Women Place First in 5K Race

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Shenandoah University Hornet Harrier Invitational on Saturday in Winchester, Va., with the men finishing first in the 6K race, and the women's team finishing first in the women's 5K race.

The men finished first among eight schools, with 54 points. Senior Matthew O'Cadiz (Falls Church, Va. / JEB Stuart) finished third overall at 19:20.7, and junior Patrick Brown (Alexandria, Va. / Thomas Edison) took fourth at 19:25.3. Senior Justin Libman (Springfield, Va. / West Springfield) took 12th at 19:58.3, junior Nick Onorato (Fairfax Station, Va. / South County) finished 17th at 20:17.6, and freshman Jacob Lohr (Williamsburg, Va. / Bruton) rounded out the Eagles' scorers by finishing 18th at 20:19.2.

The women finished first in the 5K race among six schools, with 24 points. Sophomore Kelly Young (Ruckersville, Va. / William Monroe) finished second overall at 19:46.1, and senior Cameron Delean (South Riding, Va. / Freedom) took third at 19:52.6. Freshman Julia Kapp finished fifth at 20:05.7, freshman Jessica Oberlies (Greensboro, N.C. / Grimsley) finished sixth at 20:11.6, and junior Grace Pippin (Bristow, Va. / Patriot) finished eighth at 20:17.2.

Both teams will return to action next Saturday at the Bridgewater College Invitational at 9:45 a.m.
