UMW Cross Country Teams Host Va. Union Women for Saturday Meet

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's cross country teams raced on Saturday morning at Clift Farm, with the women hosting Virginia Union and the men competing within the team. The women swept the first five places in winning the dual meet.

Junior Ashley Applegate took first place in the women's race, finishing the 6000 meter course in 25:19. Freshman Amanda Morrissey was second at 25:36, sophomore Camy DeLean was third at 25:40, freshman Grace Pippin was fourth at 25:45, and junior Kenzie Lloyd was sixth at 25:59.

On the men's side, senior Jeff Gibson was first on the 8K course at 25:38, freshman Patrick Brown was second at 27:28, junior Miles Spence was third at 27:40, junior Dillon Schweers was fourth at 27:48, and sophomore Blake Mason was fifth at 28:20.

The Eagles will return to action on October 19 when they visit Glassboro, N.J. for the Rowan University Invitational at 11 a.m.
