UMW Men's XC Finishes First at Shenandoah Hornet Harrier; Women Take Second

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Shenandoah University Hornet Harrier in Winchester, Va., on Saturday morning. The Eagle men finished first among 20 schools, while the women placed second among 17 competing schools.

For the men, senior Jeff Gibson finished in first place overall on the 6K course at 18:57, while freshman Patrick Brown finished third at 19:21. Sophomore Matt O'Cadiz finished in eighth place at 19:42, junior Laurence Sneed took 18th at 20:20, and junior Dillon Schweers finished 23rd at 20:25.

The women saw sophomore Camy Delean finish third overall at 19:50, junior Ashley Applegate fifth at 20:03, and freshman Amanda Morrissey in sixth at 20:05. Freshman Grace Pippin took 16th at 20:53, and freshman Caroline Joyce finished 28th at 21:25 to round out the top five.

The Eagles will host the UMW Invitational on October 5 at 9:30 a.m. at Clift Farm.
