UMW Women's Cross Country Takes Second at CAC Championship; Weisbeck Takes Medalist Honors

Senior Jillian Weisbeck finished first overall, and classmate Emily Knerr finished second, as the University of Mary Washington women's cross country team finished in second place at the 2018 Capital Athletic Conference Championship on Saturday in Buena Vista, Va.

Weisbeck took top honors, crossing the line first overall at 23:45. Knerr followed in second place at 23:57, and joined Weisbeck on the first team all-conference squad. Freshman Cameron Delean took 11th overall to gain second team honors, with a time of 24:48. Sophomore Ashley Applegate took 17th place at 25:12, and sophomore Carly Hughes took 19th at 25:31.

Weisbeck becomes the first Eagle to win the race since 2014, when Teagan Young won.

The Eagles will return to action on November 10 at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional Championship hosted by Berry College.
