UMW Cross Country Competes at the Shenandoah Invitational

The University of Mary Washington cross country team competed at the Shenandoah Invitational in Winchester on Saturday morning.

In the men's 6k, J.P. Burklow was the top finisher for UMW as he placed second with a time of 19:49. Freshman Matt O'Cadiz finished just 14 seconds behind Burklow in fifth place. Blake Mason took seventh place with a time of 20:05. 

Freshman Ryan Tinsley placed 15th in the 8k with a time 29:41. Chester Pruitt finished right behind Tinsley at 29:49. Brandon Baumgartner and Justin Libman took 18th and 19th place finishing in the 30rd minute mark. 

In the women's 5k, Emily Knerr finished in second place with a time of 19:16. Ashley Applegate placed 11th at 20:30 and Cameron Delean placed 12th at 20:32. Carly Hughes picked up a top 15 finish with a time of 20:44.

Freshman Jasmine Villanueva brought home 26th place with a time of 27:01 in the women's 6k. Hannah Huggins finished 33rd and Hailey Hopkins placed 34th.

The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday as they will travel to George Mason at 10 a.m.
