Weisbeck, Larkin, and Knerr Named to All-CAC Women's Cross Country Team

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - Southern Virginia freshman Morgan Bingham became the first-ever CAC women's cross country runner to claim both Athlete of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors in the same season, highlighting the 2017 All-CAC Women's Cross Country Team.

Bingham is the first Southern Virginia runner to earn a major award at the CAC Championship, and took home both major awards as the top finisher (AOTY) and top newcomer (ROTY). Bingham's teammate, junior Sydney Bigelow, crossed the finish line in second place for the Knights to earn All-CAC first team accolades along with Bingham. It marked the first time since Southern Virginia joined the CAC in 2013 that the Knights placed runners on the all-conference first team.

York head coach Stephen LoBianco, who guided the Spartans to their second straight CAC crown, was named Coach of the Year for the second year in a row.

Team champion York posted a balanced effort to claim its second-straight title, led by All-CAC first teamers in junior Jess Delviscio and sophomore Kristi Wandzilak, both repeat award winners. Delviscio has now captured first-team honors each of her three seasons and was also named Rookie of the Year in 2015. Wandzilak was a second-team all-star in 2016. Landing on the All-CAC second team for the Spartans were junior Alayna DeBruin and sophomore Rachel Banchiere. DeBruin was a first-teamer last fall, while Banchiere received all-conference honors for the first time.

Salisbury, which finished second at the championship, led the All-CAC team with five total honorees. Senior Alison Schwartz represented the Sea Gulls on the first team - her second consecutive first-team all-star performance. A quartet of Sea Gulls earned second-team honors - junior Carly Sniffen, sophomores Abby Potter and Ashley Mazer, and freshman Liana Foianini. Potter was also a second-team award winner in 2016.

Three Mary Washington runners earned All-CAC awards, including two on the first team. Junior Jillian Weisbeck and freshman Maggie Larkin finished in the top-eight to earn first team honors for the Eagles, while junior Emily Knerr received second-team accolades for the second time in her career.

Christopher Newport rounded out the all-conference awards with one runner on both the first and second team. Sophomore Monica Lannen made her way onto the first team, while junior Kathryn Wilson was a second-teamer for the Captains.
