UMW Men's Cross Country Places Sixth at Gettysburg; Women Take Ninth

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Gettysburg College Invitational on Saturday morning. The men finished sixth among 26 schools, while the women placed ninth among 25 schools.

For the women, sophomore Jillian Weisbeck finished 12th overall, at 23:52, while sophomore Emily Knerr took 57th at 25:19. Junior Marin Bader finished 60th at 25:32, and freshman Rosie Kostka took 63rd at 25:36. Senior Molly Garthwaite finished 69th overall, at 25:58.

On the men's side, sophomore J.P. Burklow finished sixth overall at 26:16, and junior Kyle Pfohl took 12th overall at 26:25. Senior Kevin McCarthy finished 60th at 27:57, and classmate Chris Markham placed 63rd at 28:01. Freshman Stephen Tivenan finished 66th at 28:05.

Both teams will be back in action in two weeks at the Capital Athletic Conference Championships in Hershey, Pa. at 10:00 a.m.
