UMW Women's Cross Country Places 8th at Connecticut College Invite; Men Place 12th

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Connecticut College Invitational on Saturday. The women finished in eighth place, while the men placed 12th.

The women finished eighth among 19 schools. Sophomore Teagan Young finished third overall with a time of 22:07, followed by Tara Landy in 40th at 23:53 and Victoria Parent in 42nd at 23:55. Rachel Lewis finished 51st at 24:05, and Trinity Smyth completed the top five in 53rd place at 24:07.

The men took 12th among 18 schools. Julian Menk was the Eagles' top finisher in 60th place at 27:37, followed by Jamie Van Emmerik in 65th place at 27:45. Kevin Jones was 69th at 27:52, James King was 72nd at 27:53, and Nick Eghtessad was 78th at 28:00.

Both teams will be idle next weekend before hosting the 2014 CAC Championship on November 1 at 11:00 a.m.
