UMW Men's Cross Country Places First at CNU; Women Take Second

The University of Mary Washington men's cross country team took first place at the CNU Settlers Invitational on Saturday. The Eagle women finished second, three points behind the host Captains.

The men dominated the four-team event, finishing 1-2-3-4. Corey Lyons finished first at 20:33, followed by Kevin Speray in second at 20:41, Julian Menk in third at 20:46, and Chris Markham in fourth at 21:00. Jeff Branson finished seventh, and Nick Eghtessad eighth overall.

The women saw Lauren Braney finish first overall at 19:38, and Tara Landy placed fourth at 20:03. Victoria Parent was seventh at 20:41, Trinity Smyth eighth at 20:49, and Sam Park was ninth at 20:52.

The Eagles will return to action on September 28 at the Dickinson College Long-Short Invitational.
