UMW Cross Country Teams Take Overall Titles at McDaniel Invite

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's cross country teams each captured overall honors at the McDaniel College Invitational in Westminster, Md. on Saturday. The men captured the 3K race, while the women took both the 3K and 5K points titles.

For the men, the Eagles finished second to Navy in the 5K race, with Nick Eghtessad placing 13th overall at 17:30, Julian Menk finishing right behind in 14th at 17:31. James King placed 17th at 17:55, and Chris Markham took 18th at 17:57.

In the 3K race, UMW's Menk finished third, Eghtessad took fourth, Corey Lyons was fifth, and King sixth among the scored racers.

On the women's side, UMW won the 5K race, as Victoria Parent was third at 21:14, Samantha Park fourth at 21:23, Colleen Boyle sixth at 22:12, and Trinity Smyth seventh at 22:32. In the 3K race, Lauren Braney finished first overall at 11:32, Tara Landy was second, Kelsey Carter seventh, and Amanda Patterson 11th overall.

Both teams will compete in two weeks at the Christopher Newport University invitational.
