UMW Men's XC Places Third at Gettysburg; Women Take 10th

The University of Mary Washington men's cross country team finished in third place among 31 schools at the Gettysburg Invitational on Saturday, while the women finished in 10th place among 31 schools in one of the largest meets of the regular season.

The men were led by Stephen Harrison (Sterling, Va., Park View) in 16th place at 27:59, followed by Daniel Ache (Fredericksburg, Va., James Monroe) in 35th place at 28:38 and Chris Marino (Portland, Conn., Portland) in 36th place at 28:39. Kyle Anderson (New Milford, Conn., New Milford) took 40th place overall at 28:45, and Sean Healy (Berryville, Va., Clarke County) rounded out the top five by placing 47th at 28:56.

For the women, sophomore Liz Green (Viera, Fla., Viera) took top honors by placing 44th overall at 25:30, followed by Hannah Somers (Stafford, Va., Colonial Forge) in 72nd place at 26:10 and Erin Dandridge (King William, Va., King William) in 77th place at 26:15. Jennifer Moore (Burke, Va., West Springfield) finished 107th at 26:46 while Dawn Rainbolt (Gaithersburg, Md., Quince Orchard)took 117th at 26:58.

Both teams will return to action in two weeks at the Capital Athletic Conference Championships hosted by York College of Pa. at 11:00 a.m.
