The University of Mary Washington men's and women's cross
country teams competed at the Dickinson College Long-Short
Invitational on Saturday, along some of the top ranked teams in
NCAA Division III. The men placed fifth overall in the combined
score event, while the women placed 10th.
The men, who split the squad into an 8K race and a 4K race,
saw Sean Healy (Berryville, Va., Clarke County) as
its top finisher in the long event, finishing at 27:55, followed
by Chris Marino (Portland, Conn., Portland) at
28:13 and Kyle Anderson (New Milford, Conn., New
Milford) at 28:18. In the 4k event, Stephen
Harrison (Sterling, Va., Park View) was UMW's top finisher at
13:00, followed by Daniel Ache (Fredericksburg, Va.,
James Monroe) at 13:27 and Julian Menk (Montpelier,
Va., Patrick Henry) at 13:29.
The women ran a 6K and a 4k. In the 6K, Elizabeth Green
(Viera, Fla., Viera) was UMW's top finisher at 25:31,
followed by Erin Dandridge (King William, Va., King
William) at 26:05 and Tara Landy (Burke, Va., Lake
Braddock) at 26:40. In the 4K, Dawn Rainbolt
(Gaithersburg, Md., Quince Orchard) crossed the line at
17:04, followed by Michaela Sands (Burke, Va., Lake
Braddock) at 17:21 and Ashley Hess (Woodbridge,
Va., Forest Park) at 17:38.
Both teams will return to action on Friday at the Paul Short
Invitational hosted by Lehigh University.
