UMW Women's Cross Country Takes Third at JMU Invite; Men Place Fourth

The University of Mary Washington women's cross country team took third place and the men's cross country team finished in fourth place as the top Division III team at the James Madison University Invitational on Saturday in Harrisonburg. The Eagles were the top non-Division I school at the event, finishing behind Duke, Navy, and James Madison on the men's side and Navy and JMU for the women.

For the women, sophomore Elizabeth Green (Viera, Fla., Viera) finished 29th overall at 21:46, followed by Hannah Somers (Stafford, Va., Colonial Forge) in 31st place at 21:59. Tara Landy (Burke, Va., Lake Braddock) was 36th overall at 22:46, Jennifer Moore (Burke, Va., West Springfield) was 37th at 22:55, and Brianna Berling (Centreville, Va., Westfield) rounded out the top five in 41st place at 23:09.

Senior Kyle Anderson (New Milford, Conn., New Milford) was the top finisher for the Eagles, placing 30th overall with a time of 27:15. Will Green (Warrenton, Va., Faquier) was 35th at 27:42 and Stephen Harrison (Sterling, Va., Park View) was 36th at 27:43. Daniel Ache (Fredericksburg, Va., James Monroe) placed 39th overall with a time of 27:54, and Chris Marino (Portland, Conn., Portland) rounded out the Eagles' top five in 40th place at 27:56.

Both teams will be back in two weeks at the Dickinson College Invitational in Carlisle, Pa.
