Frank DeVar (Alexandria, Va., West Potomac) gained All-America honors by placing 16th overall at the 2009 NCAA Division III National Championships on Saturday at Highland Park Golf Course. Fellow senior
Brian Fulton (Pawling, N.Y., Pawling) placed 203rd overall with a time of 27:36.3 among the 276 runners in the men's championship.
DeVar becomes the first Eagle men's cross country All-American since UMW Hall of Famer Jon Gates finished 13th overall back in 1996. Lynchburg College's Ricky Flynn won the national championship with a time of 25:09.8, and North Central College won the team title.
