On the men's side, senior Frank DeVar (Alexandria, Va., West Potomac) finished second overall in the 8K meet with a time of 26:26, and will compete in the NCAA National Championships next Saturday in Cleveland, Ohio. He will be joined by senior Brian Fulton (Pawling, N.Y., Pawling), who finished ninth overall at 27:27, and joined DeVar on the all-region team. Freshman Scott Plunkett (Annandale, Va., Annandale) finished 29th overall with a time of 28:31, followed by senior Jake Pattyson (Winchester, Va., James Wood) in 34th place at 28:44. Kyle Anderson finished in 69th place with a time of 29:47 to round out the Eagles' top five. David Gayek was 75th at 30:11, and Matt Cash took 94th with a time of 30:36.
For the Eagle women, the top finisher for the Eagles was junior Sara Dawes (Chesapeake Beach, Md., Huntingtown) in 37th place at 25:17, followed by Michaela Sands (Burke, Va., Lake Braddock) in 51st place at 25:54. Junior Kristy Witek (Fairfax, Va., Chantilly) was 54th at 25:58, with Mara Cate (Alexandria, Va., West Potomac) placing 91st at 27:09, and Dawn Rainbolt (Gaithersburg, Md., Quince Orchard) taking 101st at 27:19.
The NCAA Division III national championships will take place next Saturday in Cleveland, Ohio, at 11:00 a.m.
