UMW Cross Country Teams Compete at the Battle for the Buggy
The University of Mary Washington cross country teams competed at the Battle for the Buggy in Elizabethtown, Pa., on Saturday. The women finished second among 11 scored teams, while the men placed 6th among 17 teams.

For the women, senior Kristy Witek was the team's top finisher, taking fifth place overall with a time of 26:12. Sarah Dawes finished in 26:27, followed by Michaela Sands at 26:59, Mara Cate at 27:45, and Nina Pfeiffer at 28:02. Salisbury won the women's team race, with the Eagles placing second.

The men, running minus several competitors, saw Brian Fulton finish 14th at 21:04. Matt Cash finished at 21:36, as did freshman Scott Plunkett. Stephen Harrison ran the 6K in 21:41, and Charis Marino was the Eagles' fifth finisher at 21:52.

Both teams will be idle next weekend before competing in the Capital Athletic Conference Championships in two weeks, hosted by Hood College.
