2003 Mary Washington College Women's Cross Country Season in Review

The dominance that Mary Washington has developed over the years continued to flourish in 2003, as the Eagles captured the Capital Athletic Conference championship for the twelfth time in the thirteen year history of the meet, and saw seven runners finish in the top 15 to earn all-conference honors. Despite several key injuries throughout the season to some of the top runners, the Eagles held on for a second place finish at the Mason-Dixon Championships, and two weeks later won the CAC title. Junior Erin Connelly, sophomore Whitney Gray, and senior Caitlin Kinkead all finished in the top four at the conference meet. They were joined on the all-CAC squads by freshman Lilly Becker, sophomore Joanna Long, and freshman Liz Gerber, who all placed in the top fifteen.

Overall, the Eagles finished with a 63-30 record, including a 59-25 mark against Division III opponents. With a large contingent returning for 2004, the Eagles will look to keep their dominance going at the conference level while challenging for top honors at the NCAA regional race in November.
