2000 Mary Washington College Men's Cross Country Season in Review

The men's cross country team faced a very difficult season, with injuries keeping all but one runner out of at least one race during the season. That runner, freshman Erich Heckel, was named CAC Rookie of the Year after placing fifth at the conference championships, the best of any freshman in the league.

In all, the men's team (without a senior on the roster) did register a victory at the Virginia Wesleyan Invitational, and placed in the top three three more times. Rising senior Travis Jones will look to repeat All-CAC honors after placing third in the conference meet a year ago. Classmates Jeremy Driver and Brian Walsh lead a solid returning unit that will be bent on reclaiming tlie league title in 2001. Veterans will be joined by a large group of newcomers who will look to step in and make an immediate impact on the program.
