#21 UMW Volleyball Falls at Salisbury in C2C Championship in Nailbiter

The 21st ranked University of Mary Washington volleyball team dropped a five-set match at Salisbury University in the 2023 Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Championship on Saturday. Set scores were 25-20, 23-25, 22-25, 25-11, 15-13; The Eagles slip to 28-4 on the season.

After falling in the first, UMW rallied to win the second and third in tight play, before dropping the fourth to set up the decisive fifth. The Eagles ran out to an early lead, and carried an 8-5 advantage before six straight points form the Sea Gulls lifted them into the lead. UMW would tke four of the next five points to darw even at 12-12, but the hosts gained the win with three of the final four points.

Senior Jordan Lyons led the Eagles with 17 kills, while Chloe Crosen scored 15 and Emily Flamm added 11. Lauren Foley posted 27 assists and Brenna Campbell added 21, and Lyons led with a season-high 36 digs. Hannah Livermon added 25 digs, and Foley and Bryanna Miller each added 19. Caitlyn Burch ahd four total blocks and Crosen added three for the Eagles.

UMW will now await a possible NCAA Tournament at-large bid. The selection show for next week's NCAA Tourney will be shown live on ncaa.com at 1:00 p.m. on Monday.
